Toby Keith has just lost his years-long battle with stomach cancer and country music fans are devastated at the loss. He was an icon in country music, with soulful and catchy tunes that could lift you out of a dark space (or give you something to dance to!).
He passed away on February 5, 2024, but shared a video of his last performance on Instagram only hours before passing.
“And that’s a wrap on the weekend, y’all. Back to it,” captioned Toby Keith on the video of his last performance.
Fans were shocked at the loss.
“I couldn’t imagine being in that crowd and waking up the next day realizing you just saw him for the last time…devastating,” commented one.
“RIP Toby. You gave it your all until the very end,” said another.
While fans knew Toby was battling cancer, they had no idea the end was so near.
In December, Toby released his new song, “Don’t Let The Old Man In.” Now, the tune has a new and powerful meaning.
The song is a testimony about embracing life to the max. Toby Keith’s powerful music lives on today as a reminder to “Toast each sundown with wine and don’t let the old man in.”
