Conservative firebrand and popular radio host Dan Bongino told his listeners in an emotional message on Monday morning that he will no longer be commenting on politics.
Bongino has been chosen to be the Deputy Director of the FBI under the new Director, Kash Patel. A former Secret Service agent and a strong supporter of Trump, Bongino said he was โfocused on getting to workโ at the bureau.
โItโs not going to be the last show, but weโve only got a few more left with you,โ Bongino told viewers. โSo, obviously, weโre going to be working with a team of people to make this transition from me, political commentator Dan, to Deputy Director of the FBI Dan.โ
โThose are different roles that require different skills. Skills I have and have used before and I plan to use again. Itโs going to hurt to leave you,โ he explained.
Bongino told his fans that his leaving wouldnโt change the content that his wife and daughters make, since they have been very involved in managing his brand.
โIโll discuss over the course of the coming days, Iโll be with you for a little bit longer on radio and on my show, I will discuss exactly whatโs going to happen. My wife has been running the business for a long time. I donโt get involved with the business at all. I do the talking,โ Bongino added.
โThe FBI belongs to the American people. It doesnโt belong to me. It doesnโt belong to anyone else but the American people. But this is the honor of a lifetime, and itโs a serious mission. And I plan on implementing that vision,โ Bongino finished.
Vince Coglianese, who is the editorial director of The Daily Caller, will be taking over FBI Deputy Director Dan Bonginoโs nationally syndicated Westwood One radio show from noon to three p.m. and his popular podcast.
โHe is fantastic, I promise you I only bring the best people, you are gonna love him,โ Bongino said.
Before, Coglianese was a guest host on Bonginoโs show. Now, she will be the host full-time on both the radio show and Bonginoโs podcast.
A press release from the Cumulus Podcast Network says that the shows, which used to be called โThe Dan Bongino Show,โ will be renamed โVINCEโ and โVINCE Podcast,โ respectively.
Bongino said that he had planned to hire Coglianese at some point, even before he knew that he was running for deputy director.
The last show by Bongino will be March 14, and Coglianese will take over on March 17.
โIโm deeply conscious of the history-making legacies of these broadcasts, which is why we will be delivering the ultimate 3-hour live radio show and 1-hour podcast for the millions of Americans who demand the truth. I promise this will be the most entertaining, informative, and efficient way to equip yourself in the golden age of America. I canโt wait for March 17, and I hope youโll join me,โ Coglianese said.
