Legendary Formula One driver Eddie Jordan lost his fight with cancer and died at the age of 76.
Prior to maintaining his involvement in the sport as a broadcaster for the BBC and Channel 4, Jordan managed his own Formula One team from 1991 until 2005. He was also Adrian Neweyโs manager.
Last year, the 76-year-old was diagnosed with prostate and bladder cancer. His family confirmed his death Thursday morning.
In a statement, they said:ย โIt is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Eddie Jordan OBE the ex-Formula 1 team owner, TV pundit and entrepreneur.โย
โHe passed away peacefully with family by his side in Cape Town in the early hours of 20th March 2025 at the age of 76, after battling with an aggressive form of prostate cancer for the past 12 months. โ
โHe was working until the last, having communicated on St Patrickโs Day, about his ambitions for London Irish Rugby Football Club, of which he had recently become Patron.โ
The family said,ย โEJ brought an abundance of charisma, energy and Irish charm everywhere he went. We all have a huge hole missing without his presence.โ
โHe will be missed by so many people, but he leaves us with tonnes of great memories to keep us smiling through our sorrow.โ

Jordan leaves behind his kids, Zoe, Miki, Zak, and Kyle, as well as his wife, Marie. He will be greatly missed in the world of motorsport and beyond, and he has a large following of loyal followers.
Tributes to the F1 great started to flood in shortly after the news was verified. This included Jake Humphreys, who called the day โdevastatingly sad and tough dayโ for the sport.
Taking to X, he wrote:ย โUtterly devastated. EJ has left us. Formula One wonโt see the likes of Eddie ever again where a guy with a love for racing can hustle his way into the sport and end up winning races.โ
โMore important than race wins though, he won hearts. I will never forget how his face would always light up whenever he saw a Jordan GP jacket, flag or capโฆ as we traveled the world together years after the team had been sold.โ
โHis greatest achievements were Mikki, Zoe, Kyle and Zak. His incredible 4 kids who share his spirit. His wife Marie is one of the strongest, most wonderful women I have ever met.โ
โThe 4 years we spent together hosting F1 on the BBC were greatest of my career. Wing-walking, scooter riding, car driving madness that I know he loved deeply.โ
โMy kids, who were fortunate enough to meet him and hear all about him, and I both carry on his amazing spirit and love of life.โ
Every time Eddie walked into a room, he illuminated it. We should all learn to be the brightest person in the room.
โI was lucky enough to share one final, cherished meal with him and his boys a few months ago. It was special. We talked about me doing one final interview with him. Sadly that will never happen.โ
โI love you, brother,โย were his last words as I was leaving. One of the three Amigos has vanished. This morning, the world seems a bit less bright. Goodbye, pal. For me, play the spoons up there.
โVery, very sad,โย remarked Christian Horner, CEO of Red Bull, in remembrance of Jordan. I mean, with his lively flair, charisma, and wit, Eddie was a legendary figure in Formula One.

And he has been employed as a pundit and analyst in the media recently.
However, he was a large character, showed a great deal of passion, and provided other drivers, engineers, and technicians with opportunities through his Jordan Grand Prix team.
โAnd heโll be sadly missed. But, you know, thoughts go out to his wife Marie and his four children. So, very sad news and heโll be sadly missed.โ
Meanwhile, F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali said,ย โWe are deeply saddened to hear about the sudden loss of Eddie Jordan.โ
โWith his inexhaustible energy, he always knew how to make people smile, remaining genuine and brilliant at all times.โ
โEddie has been a protagonist of an era of F1 and he will be deeply missed. In this moment of sorrow, my thoughts and those of the entire Formula 1 family are with his family and loved ones.โ
Jordan gave a devastating report on the health just a month ago.
โSorry, guys, just a small thing, thank you,โย he said on talkSPORT.ย โIโve just come out of getting chemotherapy and Iโm not 100 percent together here guys.โ
โIโm just not myself at this moment. Iโm a little all over the place, so please forgive me.โ
โWeโve kind of alluded to it over the shows, way back in March and April, I was diagnosed with bladder and prostate cancer, and then it spread into the spine and the pelvis, so it was quite aggressive,โย he said when he announced the condition on his Formula For Success podcast last year.
โWeโve all heard about our wonderful friend, Sir Chris Hoy, whoโs an absolute megastar, and he is coming out and talking about illnesses like what Iโve got, but heโs a far younger man.โ
โBut this is a little message, and everybody listening to this: Donโt waste or put it off. Go and get tested, because in life, youโve got chances.โ
โAnd there is so much medical advice out there and so many things that you can do to extend your lifetime. Go and do it. Donโt be stupid. Donโt be shy. Itโs not a shy thing. Look after your body, guys.โ
Jordanโs squad, which was named after the Irishman, participated in and won four of the 250 races.
While 1996 world winner Damon Hill finished his career with his team, Jordan is famous for having given Michael Schumacher his Formula One debut in 1991.
Jordan worked as a Formula One analyst for Channel 4 and the BBC from 2009 to 2015.
Known for his witty remarks, he pushed Ferrari to terminate Lewis Hamiltonโs contract in December after the driver bemoaned his performance.
โThe car is fast, and George should be able to shoot for pole tomorrow,โย Hamilton stated following a sprint race in Qatar. Who knows? Iโve definitely lost my speed.
Just like every weekend, Iโm slow. The car felt really well, there were no problems, and there wasnโt much else to say.
Fearing that the British driver is โf***edโ due to his lack of โbelief,โ Jordan responded to the remarks by urging Ferrari to withdraw from the deal.
Speaking on his podcast, Jordan said,ย โIf you donโt believe 100 percent, youโre f***ed. Do you understand that?โ
โBecause belief, 99.9 percent, means that there is that tiny, little, little thing in there knocking on your head that gives you the things that maybe, โOh, I donโt really have that confidence. I donโt really have the ability.โ
Jordan managed Adrian Neweyโs move from Red Bull to Aston Martin earlier this year.
In 2012, he received an honorary OBE for his contributions to motorsport and charity. He also has honorary doctorates from the Dublin Institute of Technology and the University of Ulster.
He had previously won the Irish Formula Atlantic Championship in 1978 and the Irish Kart Championship in 1971.
Despite being momentarily hampered by a leg injury in 1976, he also participated in Formula Ford and Formula Three.
