Officer Rescues Abducted Woman After She Signals ‘Help Me’ During Traffic Stop
Officer Wallace from the North Myrtle Beach Police Department was on patrol along US Highway 17 early in the morning on May 28th when she witnessed a white Jeep running a red light at an intersection.

Upon conducting a traffic stop on the vehicle, Officer Wallace noticed that the female driver appeared distressed while the male passenger turned away from her and mouthed the words ‘help me’ to the officer.
Reacting swiftly, Officer Wallace removed the passenger from the car and placed him in the backseat of a police cruiser. The woman then informed Officer Wallace that the passenger had allegedly just been involved in a shooting. Officer Wallace instructed her to take control of the wheel.

Dispatch immediately transmitted a ‘Bolo’ (be on the lookout) over the radio, alerting officers to a vehicle connected to a recent shooting in the area. Thanks to Officer Wallace’s proactive patrolling until the last moments of her shift, a suspect involved in the shooting was apprehended, and an illegally carried firearm was discovered beneath the suspect’s seat, as stated in a Facebook statement by the North Myrtle Beach Police.

The department and the community recognize Officer Wallace as an invaluable asset, commending her outstanding work.
The passenger, identified as Collins Bates, 29, now faces multiple charges, including attempted murder and abduction. Bates is currently being held without bail at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center.
