Heartwarming Story: 5-Year-Old Boy Honors His School’s Security Officer by Dressing Up as Him
In a touching display of admiration, 5-year-old Easton Blocker decided to pay homage to his favorite person during “Dress As Your Favorite Person Day” at Bobby G. Lester Elementary School in Jacksonville, Arkansas. While many children typically choose superheroes or fictional characters, Easton had a different idea. He wanted to dress as Jeffrey Cross, the school’s dedicated security officer.
The decision to have armed security personnel was made by the Jacksonville North Pulaski School District in the fall of 2019. As the first school district in the state to implement this measure, they understood the importance of ensuring the safety of their students. Jeffrey Cross, wearing his distinctive bright yellow security uniform and carrying his holstered gun, took on the responsibility of protecting the school community.
At the start of the school year, Cross took the time to engage with the curious students, who had many questions about his role. He skillfully explained the purpose of his presence without instilling fear. He emphasized that his duty was to safeguard them from any potential harm caused by individuals with ill intentions.
