“Oct. 18 — Mark Your Calendars”: Jim Jordan Drops Massive Hunter Biden Announcement

As a government shutdown looks likelier and likelier and the GOP’s impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden, for whatever it is worth, proceeds apace, Rep. Jim Jordan is also turning up the heat under Hunter Biden, announcing that the House will soon hear from David Weiss, the US Attorney who originally gave Hunter a plea deal but, when it was thrown out, indicted the president’s son.

Rep. Jordan’s announcement on that came during a Sunday Fox News appearance. During it, Rep. Jordan made the big announcement and described the potential nexus between President Joe Biden and Hunter Biden’s business activities and business partners.

Announcing when Mr. Weiss will appear for a hearing on the matter so that concerned Congressmen can press him, Rep. Jordan said, “David Weiss has committed to come in front of the committee on Oct. 18, so we can look forward to that.”

Speaking on the matter of who was involved and in what ways, Rep. Jordan focused on one company in particular: Burisma, the Ukrainian energy company on the board of which Hunter sat. “You can boil this [question of then-VP, now President Joe Biden’s corruption] down to the Burisma situation,” Jordan said.

Continuing, he described what he sees as President Joe Biden’s involvement, saying, “Burisma, I think, captures it all. Hunter Biden gets put on the board; gets paid a lot of money. Fact No. 2: He wasn’t qualified to be on the board. Fact No. 3: The Burisma executives asked him, ‘Can you help us with the pressure we are facing?’ Fact No. 4: Joe Biden gets [Ukrainian prosecutor Viktor Shokin] fired — leverages American tax dollars to accomplish that.”

Rep. Jordan next hammered the DOJ for how it handled the Hunter matter, namely the non-prosecution of him over the tax charges until the statute of limitations ran out, saying, “And then what does the [Attorney General Merrick] Garland Justice Department do? They try to sweep it under the rug, so much so that they allowed the statute of limitations to lapse for the most serious … felony tax concerns Hunter Biden had in 2014 and 2015. They let it lapse because those were the years that dealt with the Burisma income.”

The White House has gone ballistic over the impeachment inquiry. Ian Sams, special assistant to the president and spokesman for the White House Counsel’s Office, said in an interview, “It’s clear that the extreme far-right made a demand to open a baseless impeachment inquiry simply to continue their disproven and baseless attacks on the president.” Sams added, “The Republicans have admitted that this is not a legitimate inquiry focused on the truth. It’s instead a waste of time and resources focused on attacking the president politically.”

Then came a memo from the White House that demanded media organizations step up their scrutiny of the GOP’s claims, saying, “When even House Republican members are admitting that there is simply no evidence that Joe Biden did anything wrong, much less impeachable, that should set off alarm bells for news organizations.”

“House Republican leaders should be held accountable for the fact that they are lurching toward impeachment over allegations that are not only unfounded but, in virtually all cases, have been actively disproven – including by witnesses and documents in their own investigations, as well as years-old congressional probes and even the former President’s first impeachment inquiry,” the memo added.

“It’s clear that they’ve gotten, as the members of the Oversight Committee outlined on Monday, tens of thousands of pages of financial records, and over and over again, they’ve turned up no link to the president. Over and over again, they’ve shown no wrongdoing by the president. And that’s because the President did nothing wrong. There is no evidence of wrongdoing despite months and months, and in some cases, years and years … they’ve been investigating this for years, and they failed to come up with any evidence of wrongdoing because there isn’t any evidence of wrongdoing,” the memo claimed.
