Iranian ‘Mothership’ Off U.S. East Coast Allegedly Launching ‘SUV-Sized’ Drones, GOP Representative Asserts

A senior Republican congressman has alleged that mysterious drones seen over New Jersey in recent weeks may be launched from an Iranian “mothership” positioned off the East Coast. Representative Jeff Van Drew (R-NJ) made the striking claims during an interview with Fox News on Wednesday, citing “high-level sources” who believe Iran is responsible for the unusual aerial activity, sparking concerns over national security.

Van Drew, a member of the House Judiciary Committee and the Transportation Committee’s Aviation Subcommittee, stated, “Iran launched a mothership about a month ago carrying these drones. That mothership is stationed off the East Coast of the United States.” He added, “They’ve launched drones—we have reports and evidence from credible sources. This is not a claim I make lightly.”

Recent sightings of large drones, described as the size of SUVs, have been reported across New Jersey, including areas near prominent locations like former President Donald Trump’s estate. The sightings have caused unease, with theories ranging from foreign surveillance to advanced technology experiments. Van Drew dismissed the possibility of U.S. government involvement or hobbyists being behind the drones.

“We know it’s not our own government—they would inform us. And no hobbyist has the capacity to operate such advanced technology,” Van Drew said. “It’s likely the work of a foreign adversary, and Iran is a strong suspect.”

Van Drew urged immediate action, calling for the drones to be neutralized. “Whether it’s a rogue hobbyist or Iran, these drones must be shot down,” he said. “This is a significant threat, and our military is on high alert.”

The congressman suggested the drones might be gathering sensitive data and warned of their potential dangers. Fox News host Harris Faulkner raised questions about how the drones are being refueled and where they are landing, further underscoring the urgency of the issue. “They need fuel and a place to land. Why hasn’t the airspace been closed? It’s inconvenient, but necessary to address this,” she said.

While federal authorities have yet to confirm Van Drew’s claims, he maintained the credibility of his sources. “This isn’t just speculation. These insights come from individuals in key positions,” he said. “We must figure out how these drones operate and take steps to secure our nation.”

Van Drew concluded by emphasizing the seriousness of the situation. “These drones are likely collecting critical information. This is a direct and serious threat to the United States and its leadership.”

The allegations are expected to heighten concerns about foreign surveillance and national security as investigations into the drones’ origins continue.
