Dolly Parton’s family is sad about the death of her beloved brother David.

David Parton, Dolly’s brother, died peacefully at his home in Tennessee on November 15 at the age of 82. This is another sad event in the Parton family.

The news was posted on social media by David’s sister Stella. She said that he was a loving, loyal, and caring guy who was known as “sweet David.” She talked about his time in the U.S. Marine Corps and his great job as a superintendent for building bridges.

His daughters Donna and Dena, his “nephew/son” Lucas Townsend, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as his brothers Denver, Bobby, Willadene, Cassie, Freida, Rachel, Stella, and Dolly, will all miss him. David was married to Kay for 45 years.

On November 19, the family will hold a funeral service at Leadvale Baptist Church. The body will then be buried at Dandridge Memorial Gardens.

After a string of losses, David’s death is the last one for the Parton family. Larry, Floyd, Randy, their parents, Robert and Avie Lee, and their baby son Donnie were all born before him and died.

Randy died in January 2021 after a long battle with cancer. Dolly loved him and thought he was a great singer, songwriter, and performer who had his own show at Dollywood and played in her band for many years.

Floyd, who wrote country songs, died in December 2018. His many skills, including his love of the outdoors and cooking, were praised in his biography. Some of the songs he wrote that became hits are “Nickels and Dimes” and “Rockin’ Years.”

During these hard times, the family’s faith has helped them feel better. They are sad about David’s death, but remembering how much he loved, helped, and sacrificed for them brings them comfort.

Dolly hasn’t said anything about her brother’s death in public, but her sister Stella thanked everyone who helped and cared for David in his last days.

The Parton family’s lasting impact shows how strong and tough they were when things went wrong. As they say goodbye to another loved one, they will always hold dear the memories and beliefs that have made their family what it is.
