Teenage girl dies of cancer when her mom looks at her coffin, her heart is filled with warmth

โ€œThereโ€™s nothing a parent fears as much as losing one of their children.โ€ That fear became reality for the parents of Laura Hillier, a bright and talented student from Nelson High School in Ontario, Canada. Laura was first diagnosed with leukemia at 13. After four years of treatment, she was declared cancer-freeโ€”only for the disease to return even more aggressively in 2015.

Heartbreakingly, Laura passed away on January 20, 2016, at just 18 years old. Her family shared the news on Facebook: โ€œShe fought bravely and all of you would have been so proud of her. Her poise, her courage, her strength and her pure spirit shone through right until the end.โ€

To honor Lauraโ€™s memory, her classmates and teachers did something remarkable. They covered her white casket with handwritten messages, like yearbook notes. One tribute read: โ€œYou were musical. You were artistic. You were understanding. You were my bestest friend.โ€ Another said: โ€œVery brave and strong. You will always be a hero.โ€

Purple, Lauraโ€™s favorite color, was everywhereโ€”flowers, clothing, and decorations. Her communityโ€™s love and support offered comfort in the face of unbearable loss.

Rest in peace, Laura.
