Whoopi Goldberg opens up on the one thing she wishes she’d done differently regarding Ted Danson affair…

Whoopi Goldberg has said that the fact that she had an affair with Ted Danson while he was still married to Cassandra Coates is the thing she regrets the most about their affair.

After being cast together in the film Made in America in 1992, the relationship between the star of The Talk and the actor who now stars in The Good Place took an unexpected turn. After first seeing each other on The Arsenio Hall Show in 1988, the pair had already been pals for a few years prior to that point.

Whoopi and Ted began a scandalous affair, and despite their best efforts to keep their relationship a secret, it ultimately led to the end of his 16-year marriage to Cassandra, who left with their two children and $30 million.

Unfortunately, Whoopi and Ted lasted barely 18 months before calling it quits, and the actress subsequently admitted that the greatest regret she had about the end of their relationship is that they did not have children together.

She said to Closer at one point that “it was incredibly unpleasant, and it was quite public, as a result, the loss of his friendship has caused a tremendous lot of suffering. We are unable to go anyplace to get a beverage of any kind.”

She continued by saying, “Except for one guy, I am friends with practically all of the men I’ve gone out with.”

After their short affair, both Ted and Whoopi rapidly found themselves in relationships with other people.

Whoopi met her third husband, Lyle Trachtenberg, only a year later, but the relationship didn’t work out since the two of them were only together for a year before they broke up.

During this time, Ted was working on the set of his subsequent critically acclaimed film, Pontiac Moon, when he met the actress Mary Steenburgen for the first time.

Fortunately for Ted, things worked out the way it was supposed to, and the two of them have been together ever since.

The actor told, in reference to his marriage of 27 years to Mary, “When I go, I will have learned in this life what it means to love as a human being and to be loved, and I am very glad.” He was speaking about their relationship.
