UFC welterweight contender Colby Covington kicked off his fight week media day by launching a verbal attack on NBA star LeBron James. Covington, a vocal supporter of President-elect Trump and a long-time critic of James, demanded that the NBA legend explain his connection to Sean “Diddy” Combs and his notorious parties.
Combs is currently in jail awaiting trial on multiple felony charges, including human trafficking, sexual blackmail, and racketeering. Federal prosecutors claim that many of the rap mogul’s parties involved drugging attendees and sexual assault, targeting individuals Combs sought to control.
In a case filed in New York, Combs faces accusations of kidnapping, drugging, and coercing women into sexual acts, at times using firearms and threats of violence to enforce his will.
On Monday, Covington took the chance to address previous comments made by LeBron James, who once said, “there ain’t no party like a Diddy party” while live-streaming with Sean “Diddy” Combs. Covington chose to bring up these remarks before turning to talk about his upcoming main event fight against powerful knockout artist Joaquin Buckley in Tampa Bay this Saturday.
“I want to ask LeBron, what does he mean by ‘there’s no party like a Diddy party’? I genuinely want to know. And LeBron, how many Diddy parties have you actually been to? I’m really curious,” Covington said to the UFC press pool. “And is that why you left social media? Was it because of all the backlash you got for attending so many Diddy parties?”
Covington went on to describe the NBA star as “pathetic.”
“People think this guy’s a role model. He wants to defund the police, the most patriotic people in America who serve and protect our country,” Covington continued.
“LeBron, you’re a fu**ing scumbag, and I hope you end up locked up in the same cell as Diddy.”
In a resurfaced video from an Instagram livestream, LeBron James told Sean “Diddy” Combs, “there ain’t no party like a Diddy party.”
“Yeah, that’s what’s up!” Combs enthusiastically replied.
James, 40, has not yet commented on the clip, which was uncovered by internet sleuths back in September.
