A Young Boy Sobs And Begs His Mother Not To Drop Him Off At Daycare Until She Bursts Into The Building.

Three-year-old cries and implores his mother not to send him to daycare. She enters without warning out of concern and is shocked by what she finds.

โ€œNo, mommy, no!โ€ย Johnny screamed and flung himself on the ground. Marla Evans let out a sigh. Never again! She checked her watch. She would be late again if he had a full-blown tantrum.

She looked frustratedly at her three-year-old. For two years, Johnny had been attending daycare, which he always enjoyed. He had been making a commotion and pleading with Marla not to take him for the past week.

After speaking with her pediatrician, she learned that kids frequently experience theย โ€œterrible threes.โ€ โ€œStop it!โ€ย After hearing herself yell, Marla noticed her sonโ€™s terrified expression. There was a problem.

Johnny was enticed into Marlaโ€™s lap as she sat down beside him on the floor. His small face pressed against hers as he wailed. What could be wrong? Marla concluded that this was more than just a tantrum.

โ€œHoney,โ€ย whispered Marla softly.ย โ€œI apologize. Mommy didnโ€™t mean to lose her temper.โ€ โ€œWhy donโ€™t you like daycare anymore?โ€ย she inquired gently, rocking him till he stopped screaming.

Raising a child is about setting and respecting boundaries.

โ€œI donโ€™t like!โ€ย Johnny said as he shuddered in her embrace.

โ€œBut why, sweetie?โ€ย Marla inquired.ย โ€œAre the other kids mean?โ€ย Johnny, however, refused to respond. Marla let out a sigh.ย โ€œBaby, mommy needs to go to work, but I tell you whatโ€ฆ Iโ€™m going to come and get you from daycare early today, OK?โ€

In her lap, Johnny sat up.ย โ€œNo lunch?โ€ย Anxiously, he glanced up at her.ย โ€œNo lunch, mommy?โ€

Lunch? The anxious mother scowled. What had become of her son?

Marla promised to pick up Johnny before lunch, so she dropped him off. Although he entered the daycare in silence, he sent Marla a beseeching glance that crushed her heart.

She went to work and requested a leave of absence for the afternoon in order to attend to a personal matter. Fortunately, her supervisor understood because he was also a mother!

Marla was keen to find out why Johnny didnโ€™t want to attend daycare. She decided to stop by during lunch, not before, as she had promised Johnny.

Each door of Johnnyโ€™s daycare had a huge, clear glass window, but parents were not permitted in the dining room or the childrenโ€™s play areas. Marla would hopefully be able to see what, if anything, was happening.

The receptionist informed her that the kids were having lunch when she got there. Marla went to the eating area and looked inside. All of the children were eating while seated at their tables.

Every table was watched either by a teacher or an assistant. Marla saw Johnny right away. Beside him sat a woman Marla had never seen before.

The woman took Johnnyโ€™s spoon, scooped up some mashed potatoes, and put it to his lips while Marla looked on.ย โ€œEat!โ€ย she exclaimed. With his jaws tightly shut and tears streaming down his cheeks, Johnny gave a forceful shake of his head.

The mother said,ย โ€œOpen your mouth and eat!โ€ย harshly. Johnny had a very upset expression.ย โ€œYou are going to sit here until you clear your plate!โ€ย exclaimed the woman.

Marla recognized her kid when she noticed a tiny amount of vegetables, mash, and mince still on Johnnyโ€™s plate. She never pressed him when he told her heโ€™d had enough because Johnny wasnโ€™t a big eater.

When Johnny started to object, the teacher swiftly inserted the spoon. Marla witnessed her son splutter and choke. She had had enough! She rushed in after opening the door.

She screamed,ย โ€œGet away from my son!โ€

The womanโ€™s mouth hung open as she looked up.ย โ€œParents arenโ€™t allowed in the dining room!โ€ย she gasped.

Marla repressed her rage and answered,ย โ€œThen they should be,โ€ โ€œIs it not evident that Johnny has had enough? Despite not being a huge eater, he is a healthy youngster. You should be aware of the trauma that force-feeding a child might cause as an educator.โ€œ

โ€œThe idea of having to clean up the plate is outdated. You should know the numbers and the reasons for childhood eating problems and obesity.โ€

โ€œAnd one of them is creating a problem with food! My young son is an active child, so you should respect his right to refuse food if he believes he has had enough.โ€

โ€œIt is disgusting to force food into a childโ€™s mouth in that manner! Of course you ought should know better. You cannot use these kids as puppets whatever you please!โ€

โ€œThey are tiny individuals with needs and free will. You are teaching kids that they are unworthy of respect if you disregard their boundaries. Thatโ€™s not a message you want to spread, in my opinion.โ€

The instructor became quite crimson and stood up. Her words were,ย โ€œI neverโ€ฆโ€

โ€œThatโ€™s a pity,โ€ย stated Marlaโ€™s calm voice.ย โ€œBecause Iโ€™ll make sure you lose your job if this occurs again! I refuse to send my son to a daycare where he will be mistreated.โ€

Marla approached Johnny and gave him a gentle mouth wipe. Gently,ย โ€œCome on, honey,โ€ย she urged.ย โ€œMommy promised you a treat this afternoon!โ€

Johnny and Marla had a lengthy conversation, and the following morning there was no outburst. She stopped by the daycare around lunchtimes during the course of the following few weeks to observe activities.

Johnny regained his good humor and zeal, and the teacher never made him eat again.
