Doctor Reveals: MRI Scan Of The Face Of A 33-Year-Old Woman Reveals Where All Of Her Filler Went

After sharing magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) footage, a medical surgeon gained widespread attention for demonstrating how a patientโ€™s injected amount of hyaluronic acid fillers had grown and autonomously migrated over time.

Thousands of viewers were astounded by the findings and acknowledged that their injected fillers had never dissolved.

According to theย American Board of Cosmetic Surgery, dermal fillers are gel-like compounds that are injected beneath the skin to improve facial features, smooth wrinkles, soften creases, and restore lost volume.

Over a million men and women select this well-liked face rejuvenation procedure every year, according to the board.

Hyaluronic acid-based injectable fillers are the most widely used kind and are typically the most transient solution. Fillers made of hyaluronic acid usually last six to eighteen months.

Oculoplastic surgeon Dr. Kami Parsa went viral after showing footage of an MRI

Dr. Kami Parsa, an oculoplastic surgeon in Beverly Hills, California, posted a video of a patientโ€™s MRI on his TikTok page on Friday, July 12. The video showed how the patientโ€™s face had changed due to injectables.

The patient, a 33-year-old lady, had received injections of hyaluronic acid filler over the previous six years totaling more than 12 CC, or 12 milliliters.

The MRI was displayed in the movie, which has had over 7.2 million views, as a grey face with green dots lighting up in different places, such as the cheeks and lips, signifying the remaining hyaluronic acid filler.

The patient in question had undergone what procedures? Dr. Parsa did not clarify. He did, however, clarify that after performing a volumetric study to determine the womanโ€™s fillerโ€™s overall amount, the material came to a total of 28 CC.

โ€œWhich is more than twice the amount of filler that was injected,โ€ย the doctor said in his video.

He further explained:ย โ€œWhat this shows us is that hyaluronic acid fillers are hydrophilic.โ€

This indicates that they both enjoy being in water and stimulate tissue growth.

The MRI sparked concerns, as a TikTok user commented:ย โ€œI just donโ€™t see how this wouldnโ€™t completely destroy the lymphatic system.โ€

โ€œFINALLY THIS IS BEING TALKED ABOUT,โ€ย a person wrote.ย โ€œThe mass production and insane usage without WARNING. I need to know more. What about Botox?โ€

โ€œBotox has a long history and is safe if performed correctly,โ€ย was Dr. Parsaโ€™s response.

The MRI showed how the amount of hyaluronic acid fillers injected into a patient had doubledย

Someone retained:ย โ€œOkay so water is key to keeping my filler.โ€

A viewer admitted:ย โ€œI keep telling people I only got my lips done 3 times 0.5ml each time and itโ€™s been 5 years since then and my lips are still the same because it DOES NOT DISSOLVE.โ€

โ€œWhen it first came out, all injectors said it would only last 6 months,โ€ย a netizen penned, to which the medical expert responded:ย โ€œThatโ€™s what the filler companies were telling us.โ€

An observer noted:ย โ€œI got chin filler ONCE a decade ago, never needed a touch-up since. Itโ€™s stayed the same this whole time.โ€

Another person commented, saying,ย โ€œI had my lips done 8 years ago. It still hasnโ€™t gone away.โ€

Over time, fillers have gained popularity, and celebrities who overuse them are frequently chastised.

Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes had to endure the wrath of social media beauty reviewers last month after images of the coupleโ€™s older and more recent pictures began to circulate online this year.

On March 29, Meredith West, a physician assistant with a Master of Science and 15 years of experience in plastic surgery and injectables, shared a joint reel with Mountcastle Medical Spa, a Virginia-based medical spa, on her Instagram profile.

Ryan and Evaโ€™sย โ€œbefore and afterโ€ย photos in the film seemed to show a dramatic change in their physical appearance, with the married couple appearing somewhatย โ€œpuffierโ€ย than they had in the past.

โ€œI assume theyโ€™ve both had recent cosmetic procedures,โ€ย Meredith captioned the Reel.

โ€œI think Eva might have had facial surgery (possibly a facelift +/- fat grafting), and they both probably had Botox and facial fillers,โ€ย the spokesperson said in her explanation.

The most popular type of injectable fillers are made of hyaluronic acid

According to the NHS, botulinum toxin injections, like Botox, relax the facial muscles to minimize wrinkles and lines like frown lines and crowโ€™s feet.

Negative effects can result from using fillers and Botox excessively. Overdosing on Botox can result in severe muscle weakness, which can impair facial expression and provide an artificial appearance, according to Nurse Gemavie.

According to dermatologist Jessica Weiser,ย โ€œwe see a good amount of [overdone filler], unfortunately,โ€ย Allure reported in March 2023.ย โ€œThat classic pillow-face appearanceโ€”very puffy with strange anatomic proportionsโ€ย is how it appears.

While a myriad of factors contribute to the condition, poor judgment on the part of select injectors is, no doubt, a root cause, Allure reported.

โ€œI think they both looked amazing before and didnโ€™t need anything other than a little preventative toxin and maybe some biostim (i.e., Sculptra) for collagen stimulation,โ€ย Meredith said in the caption of her hypothetical Ryan-Eva cosmetic procedure reel.

Of course, medical-grade skincare products, including CO2, radiofrequency, laser, and microneedling for upkeep and prevention, are all included.

Aesthetics physician Jonny Betteridge is among the medical professionals who have commented on the Barbie starโ€™s physical transformation.

In a Reel that was uploaded on March 28 and garnered 2.2 million views, Jonny talked about the actor, 43, and how his face has changed over time.

โ€œHeโ€™s always had very masculine-looking features, well-structured, cheekbones, a squared, jawline, and a wide chin,โ€ย the doctor admitted as he analyzed Ryanโ€™s pictures from earlier years.

Dr. Parsa measured the fillers in a 33-year-old patient using a volumetric analysis.

Jonny continued:ย โ€œThe certain part of his face which is very characteristic of his appearance and thatโ€™s this mid-face flatness.โ€

Once more, this is visible when the face appears sunken-like.

โ€œI perform mid-face restorations using dermal filler in these four areas for the majority of my patients that come in for treatments.โ€

โ€œIโ€™m trying to bring back the volume and structure of the cheekbones.โ€

(function(w,q){w[q]=w[q]||[];w[q].push([โ€œ_mgc.loadโ€])})(window,โ€_mgqโ€);

โ€œNotice a change in this area of the face where it looks much fuller and less sunken,โ€ย the doctor continued, implying that the actor had probably undergone filler injections around 2021.

The aesthetics expert continued by saying that the Canadian nativeโ€™s appearance has become moreย โ€œoverfilledโ€ย in recent years.

โ€œItโ€™s clear to see the change in his facial proportions and the fullness to his mid-face and cheeks,โ€ย Jonny said.ย โ€œThis is further exacerbated [by] dynamic movement of the face when someone smiles, and this appearance is classic of what I see when someoneโ€™s had too much filler put in this area.โ€

One person said,ย โ€œMe and my fillers panicking [right now].โ€
